1/17/2024 0 Comments Instaling Logic Pro![]() However, since then I have been trying to find out why there is absolutely no sounds when I play a previously recorded project that I had in the old version. I finally purchased the Logic Pro X 10.4.8 and installed it yesterday on my MacBook Pro with macOS 10.6.3 (High Sierra). That way you keep older versions of Logic Pro X with their version numbers appended to their name while the one named Logic Pro X (no version number) is always the current one.Īpologies for the hijack David, your way seems much easier than compressing, which is what I have always done, however, I tried to control click LPX and it just opens the application each time, no chance option to choose Duplicate! You can repeat this process every time there's a new update. Only the original app (named Logic Pro X) will be updated to the latest current version (10.4.8). ![]() Here's the workflow I use and recommend:ġ) In the App folder, control-click LPX and choose Duplicate.Ģ) Rename the copy with the current version name (for example in your case Logic Pro X 10.4.3).ģ) In the App Store, update to the latest version. I personally don't do either but it's only a matter of workflow (however I'm not sure why you'd want to compress the app, there's no advantage to it). It really doesn't matter if you move the app or if you compress (zip) it. Is that overkill just for testing 10.4.8 in my setup? I do have the option of using an external drive and dual boot for testing 10.4.8.install High Sierra, then download 10.4.8, etc. If I back out and restore 10.4.3 still work with the 10.4.8 content or should I save all that too? Will 10.4.8 retain all my current preferences (control surface, audio interface, etc.) or will I need to set that up again? I have some customized plists for the factory plugins that I use with my Nektar Panorama that I would have to save. I assume 10.4.8 will prompt me to download everything again and all the current files there will be overwritten. that reside in /Library/Application Support. What I'm wondering about is the factory content.loops, patches, channel strips, etc. I understand the general procedure of moving the current Logic app into another folder and backing up all my projects. I'd like to install 10.4.8 but keep 10.4.3 around until I'm satisfied 10.4.8 is working for me.
